Lockdown (binaural)
Binaural fixed-media composition · 2022
Opens Sounds of Absence (Gruenrekorder, Gruen 209), a 17-track, 71-minute compilation of pandemic-era field and electronic work gathered from artists across every continent, released in Germany in 2022 and nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics' Award) the same year. Curated by Wingel Mendoza and Joshua Weitzel, with Peter Kiefer (ARS — Art Research Sound, Hochschule für Musik Mainz) as project lead.
A Closer Listen's review of the compilation describes Hartono's opening track as "a bustle of electronics, neither focused nor scattered, but somewhere in-between."
This binaural mix is distinct from the "Lockdown (stereo)" track inside Dystopia Trilogy (2020–21) — the two are different mixes of related lockdown-period material, published through different channels a year apart.
