Trapped
Gamified audiovisual installation · navigation by listening · with Bayu Dirgantoro (environment design) · 2019
A game environment built to be played by ear. Players locate objects and find their way through a lattice of glowing grids using spatial audio as the primary channel, with vision deliberately insufficient to the task. The three-dimensional sound engine does the work a game would normally hand to the renderer.
Trapped is the earliest work in this portfolio and the clearest statement of a principle that runs through all of it: sound as the structure of a space, not a layer applied to one.
